About Influence for Introverts

Influence isn’t about convincing people

Most workplaces assume influence means being quick on your feet, confident in the room, and persuasive in the moment. For introverts, that’s exhausting. We’d rather reflect than spar, and by the time we’ve thought it through, the meeting has moved on.

But convincing people is only one way to influence. The more reliable way is to create the conditions that make the behaviour you want the most likely to happen.

That’s what this book shows you how to do.

Why this book is different

Books on introversion tend to celebrate who we are and stop there.

Books on influence tend to assume you’ll be in the room, on your feet, and happy to perform.

Neither gives introverts a practical way to change behaviour on their own terms.

Influence for Introverts brings behavioural science to that gap.

It shows you how to use what you already do well (observing, reflecting, and preparing) to influence action, whether you’re in a meeting, writing an email, or trying to get a teenager to pick up their wet towel.

About Bri

Bri Williams is a behavioural science consultant, keynote speaker, author... and introvert.

Since 2011 she has helped organisations including CommBank, NAB, Chanel, the City of Sydney, and the Australian Government change behaviour using behavioural science.

The idea for this book came from a pattern she noticed after her running training programs. The people who embraced the techniques most readily were introverts.

They didn’t need to become someone else to influence. They needed a method that suited how they already worked.

When you know how to change behaviour, you can change your world.
