100 hours on my knees
Bri Williams
A few years ago I did a 10-day silent retreat.
No talking.
No eye contact.
About 10 hours a day meditating.
It was brutal.
|
What I struggled with most was the pain of kneeling for hours without moving.
The Vipassana teaching wasnโt that pain should be ignored, but that pain is a signal, not suffering.
Pain tells you something is wrong.
Suffering comes from how you react to it.
I think frustration at work works the same way.
๐ Frustration is a signal.
Itโs pointing to something that could be better. Or different.
And most of the time, what needs to change is behavioural.
Itโs what people do or donโt do.
When you understand the real drivers of behaviour (Hint: Laziness, Confusion, Fear), you can convert annoyance into opportunity.
So when you feel frustrated, ask: How could I influence this differently?
