Job vs. work
Bri Williams
AI will displace jobs.
It already is.
But here's the mistake: too many businesses are confusing “the job” with ”the work”.
Work is a subset of the job. It’s the transactional stuff – recording, analysing, documenting.
That’s what AI is good at. That’s what we should be automating.
But the job?
The job is much more than just tasks. It’s solving novel problems, navigating nuance, building relationships.
It’s offering encouragement with a smile. Giving honest feedback when it’s hard to hear.
It’s being human.
So yes, let AI take over the work.
Because that frees us to do the job.
The real job.
The valuable job.
The human job.
