Slack vs. Teams

Better doesn’t mean they’ll use it.
Kyle Harrison tweeted some interesting data, showing the number of daily active users of Slack vs. Microsoft Teams.
His point is that despite being a better product in terms of user experience for real-time collaboration, Slack has well and truly been surpassed since the launch of Microsoft Teams.
Now, I’m not here to debate which is actually a better product – that’s what Reddit is for – but his message that better products (or policies or programs) don’t always win is a good one.
From Beta losing to VHS and Google+ to Facebook, your product’s usability is one thing.
Getting people to USE it is something else, entirely.
