It's been a busy few weeks, so I wanted to catch up on a few things that may have whizzed past you.
Most change programs do only half the job
After years studying change management, I've come to believe success depends on two simple questions:
-
Does change happen to me, or by me? (i.e. Agency)
-
Am I consciously aware of it or not? (i.e. Awareness)
Most programs focus on conscious change. But the real action happens below the surface.
My 4i Model of Behaviour Change gets into this: www.briwilliams.com/4i
Tackling procrastination the wrong way makes it worse
Most of us grapple with procrastination. But which type?
-
Dodging – avoiding something because it triggers an unpleasant feeling. For this, pressure, deadlines, and accountability can help.
-
Drifting – wanting to do something but not knowing where or how to start. More pressure won't fix this. Clarity will.

A new way to see how your team influences
Does your team lean too heavily on async or sync comms? Are they intentional about influence, or winging it?
My new Team Influencing Profile gives you a meaningful overview of what your team is doing, and gives individuals a clear sense of what to do next: www.briwilliams.com/TIP-overview
How your personality shapes how you influence
I include a full personality profile and report in some of my training programs, but you can get a free version right now.
