Competence-cloak
Bri Williams
A lot of professionals feel kinda naked right now. Do you?
Because AI has stripped us of our competence-cloak.
If you’ve made a career out of delivering insights and answers, you probably feel a little exposed.
Your competence used to rest on how clever you were. How much you knew that others didn’t.
Now anyone with a keyboard and a few coupons can get an answer.
Is it right?
Not always.
But it looks right. And for most people, that’s enough.
So the thing that set you apart – being the one with the answers – is no longer your value.
What matters now is different.
It’s influence.
Your ability to get people to act on the insight, not just receive it.
AI can give people a smart answer. It can’t change minds or behaviours.
That’s what you're here for.
Except you probably haven’t been trained in influence, have you?
You’ve relied on your credibility to persuade.
So the uncomfortable question is: if your answers are no longer the differentiator, how good are you at the thing that is?
Oh, and if you've ever been frustrated by or in meetings, I think you'll like a mini-series I'll be sharing with you on Monday.

P.S. Shhh...this is only for introverts
